The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, Julie Andrews Edwards

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is by Julie Andrews — yes, that Julie Andrews — and it is worth reading just for that fact alone. She’s written a few kids books, apparently, a fact I did not know until recently.

It’s a fun book, though of coruse a very simple read as it is aimed for younger kids. It reminds me of The Chronicles of Narnia in a way, with a group of siblings travelling to a magical, fantasy realm (only much more light-hearted and lacking the self-awareness and symbolic depths of Lewis’s series).
